I am not sure I understand this, do you?

Q. Received this email from a friend today:
A cosmic trigger event is occurring on the 17th of October 2006. This is the beginning, one of many trigger events to come between now and 2013. An ultraviolet (UV) pulse beam radiating from higher dimensions in universe-2 will cross paths with the Earth on this day. Earth will remain approximately within this UV beam for 17 hours of your time. This beam resonates with the heart chakra, it is radiant flourescent in nature, blue/magenta in colour. Although it resonates in this frequency band, it is above the colour frequency spectrum of your universe-1 which you, Earth articulate in. However due to the nature of your soul and soul groups operating from Universe-2 frequency bands it will have an effect.
The effect is every thought and emotion will be amplified intensely one million-fold. Yes, we will repeat, all will be amplified one millions time and more.
Every thought, every emotion, every intent, every will, no matter if it is good, bad, ill, positive, negative, will be amplified one million times in strength.
What does this mean ?
Since all matter manifest is due to your thoughts, i.e. what you focus on, this beam will accelerate these thoughts and solidify them at an accelerated rate making them manifest a million times faster than they normally would.
For those that do not comprehend. Your thoughts, what you focus on create your reality. This UV beam thus can be a dangerous tool. For if you are focused on thoughts which are negative to your liking they will manifest into your reality almost instantly. Then again this UV beam can be a gift if you choose it to be. Mission-1017 requires approximately one million people to focus on positive, benign, good willed thoughts for themselves and the Earth and Humanity on this day.
Your thoughts can be of any nature of your choosing, but remember whatever you focus on will be made manifest in a relatively faster than anticipated time frame. To some the occurrences may almost be bordering on the miracle. All we ask is positive thoughts of love, prosperity, healing, wealth, kindness, gratitude be focused on. This UV beam comes into full affect for 17 hrs on the 17th of October 2006. No matter what time zone you are in the hours are approximately 10:17 am on the 17th of October to 1:17 am on the 18th October. The peak time will be 17:10 (5:10 pm) on the 17th October. You do not need to be in a meditative state through out this time, though would be beneficial. The main key time no matter what time zone you are in will be the peak time of 17:10 (5:10 pm). Perhaps at this time if you can find a peaceful spot or location to focus. The optimum is out in the vicinity of grounded nature, likened to that of a large tree or next to the ocean waves.
Focus on whatever it is you desire. What is required for the benefit of all Earth and Humanity is positive thoughts of loving nature.
We call this UV beam trigger event, .. gateway. Please forward this message to as many people as you know who will use this cosmic trigger event to focus positive, good willed thoughts. We require approximately 1-million people across globe to actively participate in this event. Please use whatever communication mediums you have at your disposal. Reach out to as many people as possible. We require 1-million plus people at the least to trigger a shift for humanity from separation and fragmentation to one of unification and oneness. This is your opportunity to take back what is rightfully yours i.e. Peace and Prosperity for all Earth and Mankind. This is a gift, a life line from your universe so to speak, an answer to your prayers. What you do with it and whether or not you choose to participate is your choice.

A. The 10/17 otherwise 818 gateway will be resonating a beam approximately one
and half times the size of earth.

i..e As Earth spinning on its axis passes through this beam, it will be
immersed in it for approx 36 hours in total. This makes each point on the
globe to be directly influenced by this beam for an avg 17hrs. Some areas
will actually have more than 17hrs.

The peak of 5:10 pm applies for all countries and timezones due to the above
average. This timing was given as an approximation to assist those who wish
to focus for a short time span. Ideally the longer one can focus their
attention during this time the greater the results.

For every human immersed in thoughts/focused on and in unconsitional love
and peace, there are 6000 others approx focused in fear, trepidation, anger,
hate, war, lust, power, greed, poverty, lack etc. This was the ratio the
Blue gave me when questioned why one million are required. Essentially it is
to balance the equation. yep 1 in every 6000.

The way i understood it this 1 in 6000 ratio is thoughts focused on
unconditional love and peace resonate/attract 6000 times more powerfully
than any other thoughts. i.e. require 6000 times less energy or other words
are 6000 times more efficient. Perhaps why only very few attain mastership
and why it is far easier and effortless to be in these thoughts as opposed
to other thoughts or frames of mind...

Many have emailed asking how long for results to come into affect from the
10/17 gateway? This will depend on the number of people participating above
and the thoughts of global consciousness on that day. However by Jan/Feb
2007 we should begin to see the results either way, for better or worse if i
can use those words.

Expect by 17th Oct for some big DISTRACTION generating fear and frenzy. If
not, then this will be a positive sign.

Many are really hassling for technical data on what exactly this 10/17 - 818
gateway/beam is. The best i could understand it from blue voice is this.

Our sector of the milky way is currently immersed in what many term the
photon belt or menasic radiation. With in this radiation there are tiny
spectral lines of emmissions very much like that to what we term
Lyman/Balmer Hydrogen emmission/absorption lines. (see eg picture)

The above is our observable light wavelength (colour spectrum) and the black
lines are what is called emmission/absorption lines for hydrogen. ie. the
points where hydrogen is resonate within our colour spectrum.

Although this does not represent the photon belt, it does give you an idea
of what this 818 gateway is. which is imagine one of these tiny black lines
which Earth is about to pass through. Next year there will be a 727 gateway
but more on that next year. (the first line on the left is the 818 gateway
in the UV region, the 2nd line is representative of the 727 gateway in 2007.
It wn't be until 2010/2011 before we move out of the UV coded region.

According to Blue we entered the photon radiation belt approx mid 90's and
now we are about to encounter the first emmission line which is very ultra
dense with UV photon radiation. The Blue reckon that the above Colour
spectrum with the hydrogen spectral lines is very reflective of what our
photon radiation belt is like. If you noticed there are 7 lines all taking
us up tp 2012-2013 with the last emission line in the "red" region. (Blue
call this last region infrared, but doesn't look it to me).

According to Blue as we approach this red/infrared region in 2012 and
beyond, every day natural occurences of what one calls "orbs" will become
common place where as now only seen by very few and usually with digital
cameras.

I hope the above gives those who have been garnering for more technical
info. The above is the best i could do to translate from Blue with much
effort.

Many had questionable concerns regarding this 818 gateway being of UV
nature. Your Earth was not created with an ozone layer.

The Ozone layer is a by product of dark times, ignorance, fear and lust for
power.

It is a veil upon the eyes of your souls. It veils and keeps the codes of
DNA transmutation from you.
Eat of the tree of life but not of the tree of knowledge as the eli-jehovan
war lords wished upon you.

Now that you are maturing, like an embryo awakening in the womb/egg, the
ozone layer is dissipating. The EGG must hatch as the bird tribe must now
leave, fly-off or else consume itself and die stuck within the EGG. Mother
Earth is hatching, metaphorically. As it does the veils are been removed and
the UV codes are reaching your souls and you are seeing the son-light for
what it really is.

UV light will be the filter, separate the chaff from the wheat. Only
frequencies of love and peace will survive the UV radiation, all else will
burn away like a cancer.

Where was the light before it existed? where did it come from? Light can not
be stored and can not be frozen in time and space. It occupies no volume and
has no mass. It is the same with thought, beyond space and time, in the void
full of creative potential.

Give Love and Peace a Chance on the 17th of Oct 2006.

camera choice confusion?

Q. Hi. Il just give a brief overview of my issue...

Im aiming to travel next year from London to Auckland (no planes - the long way across europe, asia) and document my trip through photography, im having some confusion between which camera i should buy. Iv narrowed it down to either the Canon D5 mk2 or the Canon D7. I will only be taking the one body but i want to be able to capture all manor of shots but my main interest are landscape and wildlife/action. Iv read quite a few comparisons and am feeling a little overwhelmed. It seems that the two cameras are both suited individually for my needs. What would you recommend? Any advice on which lense i should invest in would also be appreciated. Thanks for your time
How come? I know the MK2 is FF which is better for the landscape but the D7 shoots nearly twice the fps. Could i substitue the FF and use a wide angle lense? Im an amateur hence the lack of knowledge. Thanks
Thought i should also add im about to start a photography course in order to understand the theory. Il have mucho fun putting it all to practise before i start on my journey.

A. Either camera will, in the right hands, produce good results. However, these are rather bulky cameras so you really should visit a camera store and handle both models. Think about carrying either of them for several hours a day.

So I'm going to suggest a different make and model of camera for you to consider - the Sony NEX-5R which has an APS-C sized sensor and is Wi-Fi capable. Here is a review/preview:
http://www.dpreview.com/previews/sony-alpha-nex-5r

At B&H - http://www.bhphotovideo.com - you can find the Sony NEX-5R with an 18-55mm zoom lens for $748.00 or you could buy the body for $598.00 and add the all-rounder 18-200mm zoom for an additional $848.00. A version with a 16-50mm zoom lens will be available on or about Jan. 23, 2013 and is shown for $798.00.

Regardless of what make and model of camera you decide to buy, you're going to have to devote time to read & study the Owner's Manual. You'll also need to learn about the main components of photography - Light, Composition, Exposure and Depth of Field. Contrary to popular belief, simply buying an expensive camera doesn't automatically mean you'll immediately begin making good pictures. Spend time at these sites:

EXPOSURE

Another, more esoteric component of photography is called Seeing Photographically. This site will help you understand what this is:

Trip to Europe in 2013?
Q. On a School trip June of 2013 since I'll be going to College August 2013. It's by EFtours. Have you ever been? What is it like? What did you do. I'll b without parents, and while it sounds exciting, but I'm kinda of scared to be in a foregin country, I mean this is a once in a lifetime oppertunity.

We're going to France and Italy, and taking a train from Paris to Rome or Rome to Paris. We'll be gone from 7 to 10 days. Anything I should know. Just to be prepared, what should I pack? We're premitted a carry on and suitcase per student. They tell us what to bring, but how much.

NEED TO KNOW:
What should I pack into my carry on bag?

Here is their list:
Clothing

Keep in mind that some religious sites require that shirts cover the shoulders and arms, and some do not allow shorts, short skirts or flip-flops.

•Comfortable walking shoes
•Shirts (short- and long-sleeved)
•Socks and underwear
•Shorts/pants/jeans
•Pajamas
•Bathing suit (if applicable)
•Dressier outfit and shoes (reserved for a special night out)
•Raincoat and/or umbrella

Toiletries
•Toothbrush
•Toothpaste
•Shampoo/conditioner
•Soap
•Deodorant
•Hairbrush/comb
•Sunscreen
•Spare set of contact lenses/glasses (if applicable)

Money
•ATM card (call your bank prior to departure to alert them of the trip; foreign purchases sometimes result in a hold on bank accounts)
•EF Visa Travel Card or personal credit card
•At least $50 converted to foreign currency of the first country that you’re visiting
•Pouch for storing money and passport under clothing (available at travel stores)

Electronics

•Alarm clock (many hotel rooms won't have one)

Best Digital Camera in 2013?

Q. I'm looking for a digital camera with the following:

* Awesome, detailed shots for both amateur and professional photography use
* Fast, extreme action modes with instant, non-blurry shots (no delay unless optional)
* Full 1080p Quality Video with Excellent Sound and no buzzing/noises
* Great Image Stabilization
* Lovely Zoom with little to no shaking and annoying sounds
* Ability to record beautifully in both low light and very bright settings
* Easiness to learn, maintain, and adjust to
* Durable and lasts for maybe 20 years

A lifetime warranty for a camera product would be nice, but I doubt it exists. I've looked at the newest Canon Rebel (zoom/sound issues), Nikon D7100 (seems too stiff in certain settings), some Panasonic models, etc. I am on a budget and want to record high quality music videos and shorts, and take fancy pictures with the camera I am seeking. I want to spend no more than maybe $650 on my ideal product. What are your suggestions and knowledge of expertise?

A. I have a dream that someday anyone who decides to take up photography as a hobby will first know and understand this: "It isn't the camera its the photographer."

A person with zero knowledge of light, composition and exposure will be unable to use any camera in any mode other than Program or Auto, allowing the camera to determine ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Even then, zero knowledge of just composition will usually produce mere snapshots.

In 42 years I have never owned a camera that made really good pictures.

In 42 years I have never owned a camera that made really bad pictures.

However, in those 42 years I have used a camera to make some really good pictures and some really bad pictures. The camera is just a tool and gets neither credit nor blame for my results good or bad. That's all on me.

Buy the least expensive DSLR you can find. Read & study the Owner's Manual. Then enroll in photography classes. Take notes. Practice. Make changes to aperture or shutter speed or ISO only when you understand why you're making them and what the results will be.

A 20 year old digital camera will be as useless as a 20 year old computer is today.

In many states a "lifetime" warranty is considered 7 years. Some high-end lenses (translate as a lens costing a few thousand dollars) have a 5 year warranty. Most DSLR bodies have a 1 year warranty.

5,000 files in one folder Keeps freezing Windows?
Q. I have taken photos over a period of 6 years.. and ive put them all in one folder..

I have 1.12 GB (1,206,584,242 bytes) of total data in one folder with four sub folders but it has over 90% of the pictures in the root folder of E:\photos\Digital Camera\ <--- theres at least 5,000 files there.

Now when I go into the folder to view files... explorer.exe takes 99% of system resource and never loads anymore... I want to be able to save my files. .but I Dont know what to do.. am I going to have to Delete the folder permanently and loose everything? I have tried folder options with "Do not cache thumbnails" Both on and off.. and nither works.. I have even disabled "Auto search NEtwork Drives and folders"

This is Windows XP SP3 Professional.

Please any help would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance.
im sorry when I said "I have even disabled "Auto Search networks and folders" I meant to actually say - "Automatically search for network folders and printers. " I heard disabling that helps with search times in the folders of explorer.exe to speed things up..
Thanks guys all your feedback was very helpful, Special thanks to TJ and , Ramblin' Man, Also Ramblin' Man I did have one video that was being thumbnailed and it was a corrupted file too. I deleted it. Ive already started archving and the indexing speeds is increasing very well. Thnx to all ur help.

A. In XP (either FAT32 or NTFS formats for where your pictures are stored) there's an inherent catch that affects most all operating systems - I'll try to explain...

Imagine if you will your photos were in a book (ie: scrapbook) and that at the start of the book there's a table of contents which indicates not only how MANY pages there are (in your case, each photo is a page in this index) but also the date(s) regarding the page, the size of the content and so forth.

The catch here is that the more files you dump into a single directory, the longer it takes for these "table of content" pages to be created.

The old "rule of thumb" is 512 files per directory. Once this line is crossed, you're going to reserve and use more and more system resources to gather the TOC (table of contents) and the more resources that get spent doing this, the less resources there are to DO this job.

Note: Windows 7/8 still have this flaw -- it's not anything YOU have done, yourself.

You noted there's roughly six years worth of images in this one location. Here's what I would recommend...

1. Create a new folder on the SAME drive called something like "Sorted Photos"
2. Within this new folder, create additional folders specific to the YEAR in which the images were taken (ie: 2013, 2012, etc.)
3. This will be painfully slow at first, but open your drive (My Computer > Storage Drive) and do an ADVANCED SEARCH (Press CTRL + F for "Find" and on the left menu of the Find dialog select FILES AND FOLDERS and under advanced features, choose a date range of say, 01-01-2012 through 12-31-2012 and then run the search) Once all the images for that year have been searched for, press <ALT> + <E> and the letter "A" (ALT+E opens the main menu under EDIT, then "A" selects "Select All") and then press <CTRL>+<X> to CUT these images. Go into your new folder under that year and press <CTRL>+<V> to paste them into the new location.
4. Once you've done this for a year or two worth of images, the indexing and search speeds will increase dramatically. Repeat as necessary for all images in the old folder.

Now... once you have them sorted by YEAR, it wouldn't be a bad idea to repeat this process by MONTH which will very likely help index and organize your photos even more so.

The way we do this here is even more elaborate - we take photos and other content and embed them into databases which allows me to add captions/notes, compress the images so that they do not take up nearly a fraction of the drive space and thus I can burn them onto CD or DVD with ease AND still maintain the original image quality. This takes a bit of effort and my software is in-house written and likely further than you want to go at this point, but there are truly endless possibilities how to organize your media while making it painless for both you as well as your machine.

* If you're not revisiting your older images very often, I'd also strongly recommend archiving them. The way we do this here (which maintains protection) is by first creating a zip like archive (RAR format - see link below) which compresses BMP, JPEG and other image formats wonderfully, and then take the images AND the RAR file and burn them onto CD or DVD - two sets are created in case one gets damaged. Once accomplished, they can then be physically removed from the computer and your images are safe... and they're not hurting your computer's efficiency.

** If your machine doesn't want to work WITH you regarding getting these images cleaned up and reorganized, drop me an email and I can design a quick application to do so for you which will basically achieve what was listed above with the least amount of effort (assuming the date-stamps on the files are remotely accurate) - if so, drop me an email here at CentralWare [at] yahoo.com

Good luck and hope this helps!

I want to spend no more than maybe $650 on my ideal product. What are your suggestions and knowledge of expertise?

A. Sony DSC-RX100 20.2 MP Exmor CMOS Sensor Digital Camera
Link: http://tinyurl.com/qjgt4f3

Pros:
1. The auto-focus is super fast and very accurate.
2. It charges with USB, I can attach it to my car charger
3. it has build-in lens cap, which makes it smaller and a LOT more convenient than those in real life shooting.
4. ISO can be as low as 80, compensate some margin for the 1/2000s shutter speed(E-M5's 200 base iso is a horrible decision from Olympus)
5. The software(operation system) is derived from Sony Alpha DSLR, unlike the NEX's bad UI implement from Sony P&S digital camera. It gives you 3 custom profiles, with their own iso range setting. different picture quality setting etc.
6. The face detection can be set on for ALL light metering and focus mode. this is a big evolution from NEX(which can only used with matrix metering and multi-focus).
7. 20m pixels is very good with pixel peeping or cropping, thanks to it's large sensor and quality lens, lots of details with base iso.
8. It still keep the Sony camera's features:
Sony's color profile. I really like this kind of realistic color rendering. Way better than Panasonic's wash-out plain dirty image and Olympus bluish white, more graduation than too much contrast Nikon, and less pink from Canon.
9. Leaf shutter is almost silent.
10. 10fps shutter stream with live view, this is a huge plus from NEX, and the buffer flush is very quick compare to NEX-7 with sandisk ush-i 45mb SD
11. almost no screen lag between shots-to-shots(after you turn off the quick review, another trick from NEX/Alpha)
12. dual dials control is very good, comparable to NEX-7 and E-M5(NEX-7's tri-dial is a totally hoax, most of the time, 2 of the dials are redundant with same function. )
13. lens is exceptional, f1.8 can be used but there maybe some halos in daylight, starts from f2.8 is razor sharp. Macro shoot is amazing(see my photos uploaded to the product gallery)
14. photo replay can be zoomed-in and then roll-over each photos to compare the zoomed parts. (NEX-7's tri-dial is useless here, all of them have the same function of roll-over to next photos)
15. lots of customization with buttons.better than NEX-5n and comparable to NEX-7
17. Video function is better than NEX-7, it have more control, and concave dedicate movie button, which in comparison, NEX-7 have a protrude button, can be easily pressed by accident and record unnecessary movie.(Shame on you! Sony, 8 months w/o firmware fix for this!)
18. Video active stabilization is effective, panning and zooming is butter smooth.
19. dedicate modal dial, with memory recall and movie mode. memory recall can set up to 3 memories for the most distinguish settings, such as 1 for portrait(low iso base range, med shutter speed, portrait color rending, face detection ), 2 for landscape (80 iso, vivid color rending, small aperture), 3 for in-door flash portrait. You can alway record video in any mode with press the movie button, but in dedicate movie mode, you can set to automatic or manual, or Av, Sv and filters for your fine tune of movie style.
20. flash can be set to bounce with your fingers, produce nice in-door photos. (good trick from NEX-7)
21. white magic rgbw screen is very good, more vivid and bright than NEX-7 outdoor.
22. battery is generally good in this category , I shoot 700 photos for half a day, So prepare 2 spare battery for a night and day shoot session.
23. Since Adobe released Lightroom 4.2 RC, Raw file can extract more details for high ISO setting, but jpeg out of camera is better than what I expected as well as the vignetting, distortion, purple fringe compensation.

Cons:
1.front dial is smooth, the smooth dial is excellent for manual focus, but I prefer tick dial to adjust values.
2.modal dial is a little tighten to turn.
4.no dedicate on/off button for flash. it can only be triggered with menu option to use flash.
5.Lens zoom out/in speed is not very fast, if you drop the camera, it may not survive...
6. aperture decay fast compare to the focal length, hopefully it can provide 28-35mm with f2.8
7. no grip, even its small but you'd better have the wrist strap.
8. no external battery charger for spare battery.
9. no sd card buffering write indicator nor any sign of indication on screen.
10. photos and movies in separate replay menu, Sony's old problem though...
11. manual can only be downloaded from Sony support website. (No CD manual or Raw converter for a enthusiast camera? )

Which camera should I buy?
Q. I need a really good camera in april (2013), I'm thinking of buying a nikon 1 J1 but I'm not sure, the nikon 1 J2 is too expensive if you look at the differences with the J1 . Shoul I buy a nikon 1 J1? Or is there a better camera in the market which is cheaper or around the same price? It must be digital and have a (not too) big lens. thanks!

A. Look at the Nikon V1. They are ridiculously low priced right now ($299) while stock is left or until Dec 30. If you wait until April 2013, this deal (and all remaining V1s) will likely be gone.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/823590-REG/Nikon_27504_Nikon_1_V1_Mirrorless.html

The original MSRP of $899 for the V1 was way too overpriced, but at $299, it is very attractive.

The V1 is an upscale version of the J1, and may or may not be to your liking, but at the price they are selling for, it is an easy decision. The main differences are that the V1 has an electronic viewfinder, and lacks an internal flash, when compared to the J1. It is also slightly larger and heavier, as it has a larger battery, giving about 25% more capacity. The V1 also has both electronic and manual shutters, whereas the J1 only has an electronic shutter.

Oddly enough, the V1 is priced about $100 less than the least expensive J1 that I can find, but if you buy the optional flash for the V1, it will be about $30 more than the J1.

Some reviews have the J1 with a slightly better image than the V1. I am highly skeptical about that as they are essentially the same camera; same sensor, and same digital processor, same lenses.

The only thing I can fathom is that the J1 has a different set of presets than the V1 (which is the old Canon trick), and/or not every reviewer necessarily knows what they are doing anyway.

There is one under Awboater's Christmas tree.

What is a really good advanced point and shoot digital camera?

Q. My old camera, a Canon Power Shot S5IS is acting weird. Time for a new one I think.

What a a really good advanced point and shot digital camera that would be a step or two up from the Power Shot S5 IS?

My daughter shows horses, so I need something that can capture moving subject well and is good in low light conditions!!!

I want a camera that feels/looks like a SLR, but is not. I am thinking about a Nikon Coolpix L820or maybe an Olympus Stylus SP-820UZ?

Thanks!

A. You'd do better to put a Tamron 18-270 or 18-250 (not 18-200) lens on a small DSLR body like a Sony A37, or other brand of your choice to keep it affordable chose an earlier camera model. The lens can stay with you when you upgrade provided that you don't jump ship from the brand. They can all be used in auto mode just like a P&S only you can develop your skills at your own pace.

When will digital camera wireless charging ever be announced?
Q. There have been announcements about phone wireless charging and ultrabook wireless charging which was just announced which was in CES 2013 but they did not announce anything about digital camera wireless charging so when will it be announced?
Tomorrow is not the right answer I doubt it

A. Tomorrow

Which ever day it is now then the answer will always be tomorrow cos tomorrow never comes!

Put it another way - the only folk who know are the camera manufacturers - anyone else is just crystal ball gazing.

What is Pheed?!?!?!?!?

Q. Is it like instagram?

A. Pheed, (pronounced as ‘feed’), is a free social media platform for web and mobile devices. The Pheed website launched on October 12, 2012, followed by the iPhone app on November 10, 2012, making its way into Apple’s Top Charts, Top 10 Free Apps in the social category in its first six weeks.[1][2][3][4][5][6] On February 19, 2013, Pheed was ranked the #1 app in the Apple Top Charts social category, above Twitter and Facebook.[7][8] On May 14th, 2013, Pheed launched their Android app.[9][10][11][12][13]

Pheed provides users with a unified platform for sharing all forms of digital content which includes text, photo, audio clips, voice notes, video, and live broadcast. Users can subscribe to other users’ channels and view their subscribed channels’ content in real time; they can ‘love’ or ‘heartache’ specific pheeds, hashtag and ‘pheedback,’ as well as share content from others’ channels to their own via a feature called ‘remix’ similar to a retweet. Users can search content via hashtags, and limit their search with filters that allow them to view specific content types (i.e. only photos, only videos, etc.).[1][2][3][14][15][16][17]

While it is free to use Pheed, users have an option to monetize their content, either by applying a monthly subscription fee to their channel, or setting up a pay-per-view Live broadcast[disambiguation needed] event. In both cases, the user selects his/her own pricing and earns directly.[2][3][15][16][18][19] While many users are currently choosing to share for free, some in the press believe this feature will incentivise content creators to create quality content for the web.[2][16][17]

Pheed’s slogan "Express yourself" encourages users to upload original content. There is also a copyright button that users can use to copyright material.[4][17][20][21][22] Pheed is also recognized as the world's first platform to offer pay-per-view live broadcasting on mobile.[9][10]

Instagram is an online photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, apply digital filters to them, and share them on a variety of social networking services, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr.[3] A distinctive feature is that it confines photos to a square shape, similar to Kodak Instamatic and Polaroid images, in contrast to the 16:9 aspect ratio now typically used by mobile device cameras.

Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger and launched in October 2010. The service rapidly gained popularity, with over 100 million active users as of April 2012.[4][5] Instagram is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play.[6] Support was originally available for only the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch; in April 2012, support was added for Android camera phones running 2.2 Froyo. Originally a purely photo-sharing service, Instagram incorporated video sharing in June 2013, allowing its users to record and share videos lasting for up to 15 seconds.[7] This venture has been seen as some as Facebook's attempt at competing with Twitter's Vine video-sharing application.

Thanks!

Is Nikon d40 still a good camera in 2013?
Q. Found a used Nikon d40 I might buy. Not sure about a camera with fewer megapixels than my phone(6.1). Anyone with experience with this camera let me know how well the pictures turn out? How large can I enlarge a photo before it starts to look pixelated? I currently use a film slr (k1000) and a digital bridge camera(16.1 mp fujifilm) and just want to be sure I'm not taking a step back.

A. Eric, in my opinion you should skip the ancient, outdated Nikon D40. Yes it was a good camera in its day buts its a 7 yr. old model and DSLR technology has passed it by.

I suggest considering the Pentax K-30 DSLR since it can use any lenses you have for your Pentax K1000. Pentax introduced the "K" lenses mount on your K1000 in 1975 and its still used today on their DSLR cameras.

A. Olympus release 2 waterproof cameras this year. TG-830 is the budget one and there is more highend one, Olympus TG-2 iSH whch is $379 at Amazon.

This year most camera brands has already released their 2 waterpoof cameras and TG-830 probably the best one with features in budget line but also the most expensive one.

I need a new digital camera!!!!?
Q. I really need a new digital camera! It needs to take good to decent photos and I would like it to be water proof. My budget is from 100-150 or a little higher depending on how much I like the camera. If you have a recommendation please leave a link to the camera below. I also wanted to ask what camera brand is better than the others I know Kodak is terrible then there's Sony, canon, Nikon which are the most familiar to me. I know there are the goods and the bads of each brand but in general which is the best for digital cameras. Thank you for your time best answer gets 10 points !!!!! 😃

A. Popular Photography's April 2013 edition covers waterproof cameras. They make the following suggestions:

Sony Cyber-shot TF1 - $198 (need reviews)
Fujifilm FinePix XP60 - $198
Pentax WG-3 GPS - $297
Nikon Coolpix AW110 - $347
Olympus Stylus TG-2 - $379
