Q. Long story short i am physically and emotionally abused by my mom. it is not every single day, but its fairly often. I am 19 and I live in florida. I live at home and go to a community college. The most recent time she got physical with me was 15 min ago, today november 18, 2013. She pinned me down to our stairs swung me around like a rag doll and yelled in my face. just a few min ago she told me (through my locked bedroom door) that if i call the cops im being kicked out. The first time i remember her getting physical with me was when i was in 2nd or 3rd grade, i remember she pushed me down before school in our den, i yelled at her "you pushed me down". she said sorry and don't tell anyone. Being the kid that always followed the rules i obeyed and didn't say anything. She has gotten physical with me several times since then, some of the major ones are when i was around age 8-10 i got locked out of my house for a period of time. when i was in 7th grade she got so heated with me she pulled me by my hair and hit me. the summer after 9th grade i had been gone for a week at camp with my church, i called her once during the week, and got yelled at. when i got back at 10pm i hadn't even seen her 15 min before i nearly get kicked out of the car nowhere near my house. Their was a time my mom got so mad with me she pinned me down to a chair and started pinching me in my stomach as hard as she could. (I still have flashbacks about that) i always got switched instead of a spanking. One time when i was about 14-15 my mom got mad with me and hit me on the legs with a wooden spatula, the kind used for cooking. im in my room, and 15 min later when im still bright red from where she hit me i realized i need to take photos of this. I have 3 photos of my legs on my digital camera, with the time and date. I was a minor. Now to my question. Since i am an adult, what can i do legally about this situation im in. the only physical proof i have are those 3 photos on my digital camera with the time and date on them. I remember quite a bit, but i dont know what that will do to help me being 19 and in florida. im sure they will ask why did i not report this sooner. I know i need help, for this to stop. But i dont know about how to go about doing so, and what the courts and florida legal system can do for me. Thanks in advance
A. Legally, you can file charges against her for domestic abuse. She will be arrested and told not to contact you, which means you will have to leave the house. At that point, she will probably kick you out anyway.
You need to find another place to live. It is that simple.
